Of course, Steam doesn’t make money off of advertisement, but the Jews will no doubt try to shut down their payment systems or attack any other possible vector in order to increase censorship and other abuse on the platform.

The Anti-Defamation League, a US organization that aims to combat antisemitism and support Israel, has published a report alleging that Steam is “rife with extremism and antisemitism,” and accusing Valve of allowing the spread of hateful and extremist material through a “highly permissive approach to content policy.”

The ADL said its report is based on what it described as an “unprecedented, platform-wide” analysis of public data on Steam, including more than 458 million user profiles, 152 million profile and user group avatar images, and 610 million user comments. The ADL’s Center on Extremism found “found millions of examples of extremist and hateful content, including explicit hate symbols like sonnenrads and ‘happy merchants,’ as well as copypastas (blocks of text that are copied and pasted to form images or long-form writing) shaped into swastikas” being shared on the platform.
“The clear gaps in Steam’s moderation of this content inflict harm by exposing untold users to hate and harassment, enabling potential radicalization and normalizing hate and extremism in the gaming community,” the ADL wrote. “Understanding the extent of extremist and hateful content on the platform is key to fighting the proliferation of hate online.”
Pepe the Frog and swastikas are the most common extremist symbols found on Steam, according to the report, respectively representing 54.6% and 9.1% of detected symbols. The ADL also found “tens of thousands of pieces of terrorism-related content on Steam Community,” including more than 15,000 public accounts with profile pictures featuring the flags or logos of ISIS, Hezbollah, Hamas, and others. Hundreds of accounts were found using photos of white supremacist mass murderers Brenton Tarrant and Anders Breivik as their avatar images.

California is stripping the word “squaw” – a derogatory term for Indigenous women – from dozens of place names across 15 counties, state agencies recently announced.
For decades, the names of more than 100 of the state’s parks, buildings, streets, bridges and other geographic features and locations have included the term, which is considered racist and offensive toward Native American women, according to a bill California Gov. California Advisory Committee on Geographic Names approved renaming more than 30 locations, marking “a significant milestone for Native American women,” the California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) said in a news release Friday.
“The names we give to places in California reflect our shared history and culture. These place names should never insult communities or perpetuate discrimination,” Wade Crowfoot, the CNRA’s secretary, said in the release.
Crowfoot said the move serves “to right a historic wrong” against California’s Native American communities, which make up 1.7% of the state’s population, according to 2022 United States Census Bureau data.

Walgreens is closing approximately 1,200 stores across the United States as the pharmacy chain struggles with slumping consumer spending.
The closures will occur within the next three years, starting with 500 stores being shuttered in fiscal year 2025, Walgreens announced Tuesday in an earnings report. The company had confirmed plans in June to close unprofitable stores but had not disclosed how many locations would be affected.
The move is part of a multi-year cost-cutting program under CEO Tim Wentworth, who took on the job last year. In a statement, Wentworth reiterated the company’s commitment to focusing on improving its core business: retail pharmacy.
“This turnaround will take time, but we are confident it will yield significant financial and consumer benefits over the long term,” Wentworth said in the statement.
While it’s not immediately clear which 1,200 stores Walgreens is planning on closing, the move would impact about 13% of the more than 8,700 stores that were open in the United States as of Aug. 31 last year.

The White man accused of shooting his Black neighbor in the neck last week has an “extensive history of threats, harassment and property damage against numerous neighbors” over a two-year period and evaded arrest by holing up in his home, court records show.
John Sawchak, 54, had two outstanding warrants against him for an alleged yearlong campaign of harassment targeting the shooting victim as well as a third warrant charging him with assaulting another neighbor in 2022, according to court documents.
In a statement to CNN, a spokesman for Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey’s office said Friday the mayor “fully supports an independent review of this incident.”
